Marcel has been working in Toronto as a composer, arranger, pianist and educator since 1998. During this time he has held regular gigs at the Cameron House, Gate 403, The Trane Studio and The Rex Hotel Jazz and Blues Bar. He has also been a featured performer in the Distillery, Barrie, Toronto Downtown Jazz and 416 Toronto Creative Improvisers Festival. Marcel has completed five CDs as a sideman (Peace of Mind, Nine Moments of Time, Crush, Break and Enter, Face It), and from 2004 to 2005 he organized his own monthly music series entitled STRANGE FOLK which featured improvised music, singer-songwriters, dance and short plays.

In 2005 he stepped out of his role as a sideman to release his first CD as a leader: WEIRD COCKTAIL, a quirky mix of funk, jazz and classically inspired original pieces. Carl Wilson of the Globe and Mail described it as ".... a corkscrewed concoction that goes down easy, combining a searcher's sensibility with influences from the exotica end of the jazz spectrum… Au Coin has one ear cocked to the experimental aspects of his genre while making the music accessible to anybody marinated in late-20th-century pop culture..." In that same year Marcel also served as composer, arranger, and performer for the East Hill Productions’ film Rise up, which was the only Canadian film to be featured in the prestigious AFI film festival in Los Angeles.

Marcel continues to perform throughout Toronto, and is currently working on a solo album of his original vocal compositions that will be released in 2008.
